The Bobbit worm buries itself in the ocean floor and waits for something to swim past, then uses its scissor-like jaws to attack with such speed that its prey is sometimes cut in half. Its real name is Eunice aphroditois, but it became known as the ‘Bobbit worm’ in 1996 after Lorena Bobbitt cut off her husband’s penis with a knife. source
