Scientists have discovered the first warm-blooded fish. When analyzing tissues from an opah fish, they found a heat exchange system, which has never been seen in a fish’s gills before. This keeps their bodies at least 5 degrees warmer than the water no matter how deep they dive, and allows them to swim faster and see better. source
